Half the fun of going on vacation is always getting the chance to buy something new to wear. Being that it is super humid and hot in Havana right now, I really wanted to buy a cute top and skirt. Little did I know how hard it was going to find something in my size! I literally was shopping around until the very last day. In the end, I found this white crop top and red ruffle maxi skirt. I had to make some last minute alterations, but if definitely worked out in the end!
I originally wanted to wear the outfit with nude heels, but the ground was kind of wet from all the rain that we got. The thing with Cuba is that there’s no easy way of checking the weather. Internet is almost non-existent there and trying to figure out the weather forecast on the TV was more than our whole group could handle. I decided my best bet for this outfit is to wear wedges instead of the heels. It gave me that extra height off the wet ground and it was definitely more comfortable to walk in.
Forever 21 Crop Top (S): ALTERED. I don’t understand Forever 21 sometimes. They can make their product so much better with just some minor changes. I would have gladly paid a couple extra bucks for a better quality version of this top instead of me trying to alter it myself. Either way, I made it work and it did come out great. The top is thicker than most crop top, but definitely not thick enough to hide what you need to hide, especially it being white. I had to cut small slits on both sides and then took padding from other bras and inserted into this one so there would be enough coverage.
Bardot Skirt (XS): ALTERED. I had to alter this skirt too. I actually had to take it into an alterations place since it was beyond my sewing skills. The skirt sat on my waist lower than I wanted. It was about belly button height and I wanted it to be high-waisted so I wouldn’t show too much skin. I had my alterations lady take it in about 1.5″ and it was perfect. Just for reference, I’m about a 25″-26″ waist.
