In my opinion, no New Year’s Eve can be complete without some sort of sequined outfit. I absolutely need something shiny and sparkly especially since we’re off to Las Vegas this weekend! There is just something about the flashing lights, bottomless buffets, dance clubs, and endless shopping. But I think the thing that I love the most about Las Vegas is that EVERYONE actually gets dressed up!
This is probably why I gravitated towards this iridescent sequin dress from H&M. Usually, I prefer dresses that have mini sequins everywhere and that are a bit more form fitting, but something about this caught my eye. Even when we were photographing the dress, a nice lady came up to us and mentioned in Spanish how pretty the dress was. You definitely know the dress was worth it if a complete stranger made the effort to pass on a compliment knowing that I might not understand (but I totally did).
H&M (Divided) Sequined Dress (Sz 2): What I love most about this dress is that it is made up of oversized sequins that have a blue and purple tint when it hits the light. I also love that it’s LOOSE. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone out in a tight dress and just wanted to rip the whole thing off by the end of dinner. With this dress, at least I have a fighting chance that I can actually do dinner and dancing for NYE without having the meat sweats.
One thing to mention though is the length. The length of the dress is actually too long for me. The way I decided fix this problem is to take a skinny black belt and cinch it at the waist. I pulled the dress up a little bit over the belt to make the dress shorter. Also, I didn’t like the belt buckle in the front so I rotated it to the back.
Update (1/2/18): I went to the Citadel Outlets and saw this dress in the clearance section for $25! If anyone lives in the area, the dress is a great buy and can be saved for next year.
H&M Faux Leather Jacket (Old): I bought this jacket on a whim and it has ended up being my go-to jacket for anything nighttime related. There is something just cool and chic about a leather jacket that you can’t go wrong with.
ASOS Hang Time Heels (Sz 6): Reviewed here!
YSL Small Monogram Chain Wallet: This was a definite splurge. I was in Hawaii about a year ago on a bachelorette trip and found out that luxury goods are actually cheaper in Hawaii! In my defense, I wasn’t planning on buying anything. But when you hear that YSL is 20% cheaper than the mainland, how can you not buy something? On top of that, the tax in Hawaii is only about 4%. It’s a win-win, right?
The determining reason why I bought this purse versus other brands (i.e. Louis Vuitton or Prada) was because I wanted a small classic black purse that I can go dancing in. Something that can fit some credit cards, cash, my cell phone, and my Dr. Scholls foldable flats (a.k.a. lifesavers). I’ll probably be doing a separate review of the purse soon so stay tuned!
